Directional data : a story of iidness test applied on sunspots.
In this presentation, I will present some of my works related to directional data. In particular, I will present why we focus on this framework, and what’s the application of this kind of data. Then, I will focus the presentation about the following question :
How to test if a sample of directional data is iid ?
In order to answer this question, I will introduce the classical runs test, and introduce the directional runs tests. Then, we will study the test with two particular alternatives : serial dependence with Tangent-Markov distribution, and a second one with a serial dependence by mixture of von-Mises distribution. In this both cases, we will show that we can derive the optimal asymptotic test (using LAN theory).
This work will be motivate with the study of the location of the sunpots during a solar cycle (for some cycles). And the study of the dependence in the process of longitude of these sunspots.
